Topher Gopher

So as I stated on my other blog, I sewed up a lovable blue furry creature today. His name is Topher Gopher. He will be playing in his first role on Saturday evening at a friends No-Talent Show. I literally took a sleeve from a large fleece sweatshirt and sewed out an outline of a gopher head and this is what I got. Pretty talented huh? He was only supposed to be a prototype but he's so funny I think I'm going to leave him as-is except he needs some clothes and arms!

I did start a grocery bag but when I realized I had only 4 days to make these puppets, I figured that the puppets were priority over making the earth a little greener this week.

I don't even know when I created this blog but I know I did it a long time ago because I've been wanting to sew for a long time now and then I wanted a place to show off all my work and sewwwwww.... here we are...

Today I thought I had the perfect circumstance to do some sewing so I pulled out some clothes that needed mending and the machine (borrowed from a friend who never uses it).

I could not get the thing to sew. It kept bunching up in the bobbin area. I was so frustrated because I had this big pile of clothing and a whole load of ambition. The problem is that this machine has no users manual so guess what I did... I ran down the street to Walmart and bought a new Singer Advance. It was the only machine on the shelf and now it's mine.

When I got home, I mended some holes in some seams, which was really boring but at least I have a few more things to wear again. I had a t-shirt from one of the 5K's I ran in last spring. I love getting "free" t-shirts, but I hate the cut of them. They are so boxy and the make me feel clausterphobic. I had torn out the stitching on this particular "t" in preparation for a day like today.

How hard could it be to take in a t-shirt to make it more girly???
